Muslim Countries

Over my decades of travel, the Muslim countries that I have travelled in and across have been some of the most rewarding, unforgettable and challenging. Egypt is a “must visit“ destination for any enlightened traveller, but as they say timing is everything!

I had a great experience in Syria in the early 90’s, but I cannot recommend visiting now, or in the near future. And at this point in history the Egyptian government is being challenged in terms of tourist safety, but this does not mean you should not travel there; these safety risks can be mitigated.

I have spent significant time living in and visiting America, and when I hear that Americans are apprehensive about visiting Egypt, it’s disappointing. These are not unfounded concerns, but I do believe that the media can spread fear unintentionally. This is an outstanding time to visit Egypt, tourism volume is down and security is up. Under normal circumstances, if you make an effort to conform to local customs this will open up a wider cultural experience. Because of Islams teachings there is no better way to maintain maximum safety than travelling with a male escort. Other favourite Muslim countries of mine are Morocco & Indonesia.
